Prickly heat is a common disorder of the sweat glands.It causes a rash on the skin. The rash is normally made up of tiny spots, or bumps surrounded by a patch of red skin.
symptoms of prickly heat:- itching
- irritation (prickling)
- small blisters
- large, red areas on skin
- In severe cases, their maybe intense burning
Causes of Prickly Heat or Heat Rash- When there is profuse sweating, the pores of the sweat glands can become blocked.
- Sweating more due to strenuous exercise in hot temperature.
- The body’s natural way of cooling off by sweating is affected, and so the sweat is held within the skin and subsequently rash forms.
- Exposure to hot sun or ultra violet rays.
Treatment:- Use sun protection creams to avoid sun allergy.
- Apply calamine lotion to the affected area, to ease itching.
- Use mild soap to prevent skin irritation and dry the skin thoroughly with a soft towel.
Home Treatment:- Drink plenty of water during hot weather.
- Keep the skin clean and avoid the use of harsh soaps.
- Avoid sweating by staying in a cool environment.
- Avoid overdressing. Allow Skin to breathe. Avoid heavy moisturizers.
- Apply paste of gram flour and then take a cold-water bath after sometime. This will provide instant relief.
- Grind leaves of neem in water and apply on the affected skin.
- Avoid excessive heat and humidity and keep as cool as possible.
- Wear loose cotton clothing to encourage the evaporation of sweat and prevent further skin irritation.
